SimpleConsign vs. Quail

Cheap today. What are you giving up?

Quail is a new, self-described indie operation with no track record running resale businesses at scale. The low price is real. So is what it leaves out.

Why shops switch

Three Places The Difference Shows Up

01

A track record you can check

SimpleConsign has run resale shops since 2008 and powers more than 3,100 of them today, with a full U.S.-based support team behind every one.

Quail describes itself as a new indie operation. If you are betting your business on their stability and support, that risk is worth naming early.

02

Cheap, or capped?

Deeper analytics and KPIs, AI item entry with the photo app, and SimpleConnect for email, SMS, and reputation management are all in the Professional tier.

Quail's reporting is one-click totals, its marketing is a basic email blast with no reviews or SMS, and no AI tools show up anywhere in its feature list. You are not being nickel-and-dimed, you are capped at the basics.

03

Your data, always yours

Backups run live and continuously, so there is no gap, and your full history stays open to you at any time without asking anyone.

Quail backs up hourly, so up to an hour of sales is at risk, and history is cut off at 90 days unless you contact support to get it back.

FAQs

How hard is it to migrate off Quail?
Most shops are live in under two weeks. Our team handles the inventory and consignor data import for you, and white-glove onboarding covers staff training before you switch the register over.
Do I lose my consignor history?
No. Consignor records, balances, and item history come across in the migration so payouts and statements stay continuous.
Is reporting really included?
Yes. Sell-through, consignor performance, category margins, and store insights are part of the Professional tier. Dealers get their own reporting access too, with no per-dealer charge.
Does SimpleConsign work for vendor malls, not just consignment?
It does. Booth rent collection on weekly, monthly, or annual schedules, vendor statements, per-vendor reporting, and a visual floor map with booth assignment are all native. Antique and vendor malls are one of our largest segments.
What happens after the launch offer ends?
You move to standard Professional pricing at $359/mo. The intro rate runs for six months or your first $50K in sales, whichever comes first, no contract lock-in.
Quail is cheaper. Why pay more?
Because the gap is not polish, it is capability. Quail gives you basic sales reports, a plain email blast, no AI tools, hourly backups, and 90 days of history. If those limits never bind on your store, Quail is the cheaper choice and we would rather you knew that up front.
