Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.

December 4, 2015

To add a little holiday joy remember, life is short. Smile.

When my daughter was a senior in high school, she participated in the Missouri Junior Miss Pageant. I accompanied her to the initial meeting where the director started off by saying, “Ladies, remember, your greatest asset is your smile!” Oh brother, I thought, this is going to be a long day. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how very true that saying is. It’s hard to be angry with a genuine smile on our face and it’s easier to deal with others when we walk in an attitude of joy.

As the days and weeks of the holiday crunch quell the life out of you and your employees, remember to keep a smile on your face. Wear comfy shoes; find happiness in the little things; do something unexpected (and anonymous) for a co-worker and by all means, take a deep breath. I’ve decided life is too short to write a complex and often boring blog post about merchandising, marketing, inventory management or how to say “No” to an unruly consignor. Okay, so I’m struggling to get motivated this week. ‘Tis the season to lighten up so enjoy these humorous quotes. Be sure to tweet them to your shoppers and employees so they can use their greatest asset…their smile.
